About me

I am a former ‘inside girl’ who didn’t discover my love of the outdoors until I was nearly thirty. I always loved the idea of getting outside, but was so overwhelmed by the amount of information available and what I perceived as a lack of time to get outside while balancing a full time job. So many of the folks that were trying to offer me opinions and give me advice were doing this full-time. I had no idea where to even start.

I hit a turning point around my late twenties when I realized that I just needed to start getting out there. As long as I was safe then it didn’t matter if I knew everything that there is to know about hiking or camping or whatever the activity was. It also didn’t matter that I might look a little bit silly as I started my journey (and I frequently look silly)

I started this blog as a resource for all of you who might need the same things I did (and still do!) – a place to figure out what I really needed know before I got started and what’s ok to learn along the way. My goal is to save you time and money, support you as you navigate this journey out the door. Whether its your first time or thousandth time I hope to help you be prepared for whatever it is you encounter out there (or in your own head)!
